How To Remove Red Wine Stains
Every wine drinker has experienced the horror of spilling red wine! Inevitably, the wine lands on your favorite article of clothing, or on your white carpet. In the past, you had the choice of some dubious home remedies for removing the wine, or, worst case scenario, committing suicide(just kidding). One such home remedy suggests putting white wine on the red wine immediately. Unfortunately, that seems to compound the problem! A somewhat more effective remedy is to place ice immediately on the affected area. Let the ice sit on the stain for as long as it takes for the ice to melt about 1/2 way. Be sure to place the ice on the affected area quickly,to try and prevent the wine from settling. Proceed to clean the area with standard rug cleaners. Not a bad solution, but it does not compare to the miracle cure you are about to learn.
This method for removing red wine stains is effective on carpets, clothing, table cloths, and virtually any other place the wine might end up. The solution is so simple, yet so effective. Simply take common dish soap and a small amount of hydrogen peroxide and spray or pour the mixture on the stain. Be careful and experiment a little with the solution, as peroxide is a bleaching agent and can bleach your clothes etc. You can substitute an appropriate fabric specific cleaning agent such as Woolite, instead of the dish soap if you prefer.
Should you be concerned with the possible bleaching effects of peroxide, simply use the ice remedy instead. I have had success with it as well.This cleaning method works with all wines, ketchup, grape juice, and even blood! Hopefully this "miracle remedy puts your mind at ease.
